Stairway to Heavens Backwards — Creepy

Check out this site: http://www2.memlane.com/jmilner/stairwaybackwards.htm.

Very, very creepy.

The song is a Led Zeppelin song. In the forward direction it is about heaven but in the reverse it is about hell. Very weird. Someone comments that: “id just like to point out how ironic it all is… the song is called stairway to heaven and backwards its about hell and also if you people would just think about this stuff, zeppelin gives clues throughout the song to play it backwards. like “yes there are 2 paths you can go by” forwards is one path back is another i dunno if im just crazy or if these are really zeppelins hints to play the song backwards. if they did this all on purpose it is most certainly ingenious. dont believe? reverse the song yourself. without ever even looking at this guys interpretation of the lyrics backwards i could easily pick out the words satan, toolshed, 666, suffer, and other such gargle. when i look at his interpretation i was suprise that it was very much what i thought it sounded like too. well good day”

Or, another set of lyrics that could work are as B.L.Z. Bub pointed out: Satan, schmatan. The backward lyrics clearly refer to a man having dinner with his family in a restaurant. The man is somewhat haughty (Plant himself?), his children are misbehaving, and the service is bad. Listen closely…

“Oh waiter, yes, my plate’s empty.
Oh now the the little child’s bored, make his dad first holler and shake him.
Yeah yeah girl, beef cube, sit sit sit.
And, mortal, in with the milkshake, bring me a sub the same speed.”

The above site is a flashsite and allows you to listen to the song in forward and reverse. Make sure to listen to the reverse version before you read the lyrics — see if you can pick out the words first.

Another person on the comments for that page mentions that when Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” is played backwards the phrase “Smoke marijuana” is heard. I haven’t had time to check this one yet…
