make sure that your domain name doesn’t expire

A quick note. Always remember to make sure that your domain name doesn’t expire. Take this site for instance www.klettke.org, or this website. It wasn’t my site any longer! It was just filled with advertisements!! I had forgotten to renew my domain and DotYou.com, the website that I bought the domain with decided to hold the domain (those nice guys), (but redirected it to advertising instead) for 30 days or so until I paid the $9.75 to renew it for the year. I must have gotten an email from them alerting me that my domain was about to expire, but I hadn’t used the email that they had on record for a long time because it was overcrowded with spam. After a lot of hassle and worry (because my main email address used that domain) I eventually got an email explaining what happened. Moral of story: Check those expiration dates on webpages. Who knows, klettke.com, klettke.net, and a lot of other variations are taken.
