Spam Karma

Even though the new WordPress 1.5 has excellent builtin spam protection I was starting to see some some spam getting past. The problem was that the current spam moderation relies on keywords in the comment body and some recent spammers were getting through by putting random text in the body but then putting their name has the url to their site (mostly poker sites).

So, I’ve installed Spam Karma to stop the spam. The setup was extremely easy and I’m hopeful that any spam will be stopped.

  1. Happens to me too. I came to my site today and noticed I have a comment on my newest post. Was happy, cause it doesn’t always happen. I open it, poker. K. I look at all of my other articles, all have 1 comment (save for the one we had a conversation in, it had 6 rather than 5). It kind of pisses me off, but at least its easy to rid of them.

  2. Oops, forgot to add, I will be using WordPress for a while longer, but I am starting my own news script soon. I have the information site nearly finished, http://www.studiowave.ca/kreative. The search and comments pages are still unformatted, and the links to other pages still dead.
